A little home

Hey!  I was watching my kids play outside the other day and I sort of gravitated to the garage tools.  I asked my daughter if she would like to make a little wooden house with me.  She was very enthusiastic at first.  Sadly I had to ask her to step back as I manned the tools.  "Please step back a little more sweety."
"A little more."
Okay, I ended up building it myself while she ran out to play with her brother who would actually let her get close enough to see what he was doing.

But here is what we I came up with.

My daughter did get a little involved towards the end, helping me screw the pieces together and drawing the happy little family doing a jig on the rooftop.

They even have bunk beds.
Thank goodness, jigs can be exhausting.

Anyway, I plan on painting this little house and decorating it up all fit to live in.  Any ideas?  I'll post updates :)

And, because I can't help myself, here is a video by the beautiful JJ Heller.  Her words speak to me, and you can't help but smile when you see her smile :)

  1. Love your little house!

I would suggest adding a little ladder. It looks maybe your daughter drew a little ladder on there, and I know when I was that age, I felt like my dollhouse people were lacking in sufficient transportation from one floor to the next because my dollhouse didn't have a ladder or stairs.

  2. Hi Becca,

I was looking for your e-mail address so I could reply to the comment you left, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, in answer to your question, you can read more about my book here:

I've also written about it little by little in several other posts, but that's really the main one where I've talked about it the most. Enjoy!

    P.S. Love the doll house!
